International Olympic Committee Visits Chicago

Members of the International Olympic Committee’s Evaluation Commission arrived in Chicago on April 2^nd, 2009 for an inspection that evaluated Chicago’s ability to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.  Pontarelli Companies, headquartered in Chicago provided ground transportation for the 16 member IOC.  The 2009 HC Series Hybrid bus was just one of several green vehicles used by Pontarelli for the IOC’s transportation. 

The HC Series Hybrid Bus cuts vehicle emissions up to 85% while improving fuel economy up to 60%.  According to Director of Environment for Chicago 2016, Bob Accarino, Chicago chose the IC Bus HC Series Hybrid luxury shuttle for its ride and comfort – as well as its innovative hybrid technology.  “The Hybrid Bus highlighted Chicago 2016’s commitment to environmental responsibility and legacy,” Accarino said.  “It served as a constant reminder for the IOC of the proposed blue-green games.”
